TV Antenna Repairs
Your TV antenna will likely take a battering in its lifetime. Storms, strong winds, scorching sunshine not to mention critters perching on top or chewing cables. Over time, the components of a TV antenna system will degrade and potentially affect your reception. Unsurprisingly, most TV antennas will need a repair at some point.
TV antennas can endure minor damage from exposure to the elements. A broken cable or a loose element are common. We can assess the damage and perform a repair on the TV antenna.
TV antennas frequently fall over. This is usually due to decay in the mounting bracket or a stout wind. We can securely remount your TV antenna and provide a new mounting bracket if necessary.
Antenna points inside the house can also suffer damage. It’s easy enough to knock the socket or pull on the cable. Often this causes the TV to lose signal. Fortunately, it’s a simple repair and we can get it sorted fairly quickly.
Sometimes reception problems occur without any obvious damage to the antenna. Televisions might display a sign saying weak or no signal. The audio might distort, and black pixels or a tiling effect might appear on the TV picture. If you experience these problems, there is likely a fault in the antenna system. We can diagnose and repair the problem.
Whatever the problem, big or small, we can fix up your antenna and get you watching TV again. If you are experiencing difficulties with your antenna, give us a call on 9705 1525.
How Long Does a TV Antenna Repair Take?
Without knowing the exact cause of the problem, it’s impossible to predict the length of time required to repair a TV antenna system. A very simple repair can be done in as little as 15 minutes. However, most straight forward repairs on average take between half-hour and one-hour to complete. There are some antenna repairs that tend to be quick such as realigning the TV antenna after a strong wind, replacing a faulty wall socket and joining a cable after it has been cut or chewed.
Can Your Antenna Be Repaired?
There are two main indicators that determine the likelihood of repairing your TV antenna. The age of the antenna and its physical condition. Over time, your antenna will deteriorate. The older the antenna gets, the more doubtful a repair can or should be attempted. Even if repairs can be made, the result may only be temporary. The time factor to repair an antenna can also make it cost-prohibitive. Sometimes it’s more economical in the long run to install a new TV antenna.
If your TV antenna is physically broken, the chances of repairing it are remote. Antennas typically don’t have replaceable parts. Despite this, if you’re not experiencing any reception problems, the need for a new antenna may not be imminent. However, if you have poor reception, a replacement antenna will likely be necessary.
If your TV antenna is relatively new and hasn’t suffered any damage, we can likely repair it. It’s even possible that your reception problems are not the result of a faulty antenna head. The other components of the antenna system are just as vital and can require maintenance.
This information is only a general guide. Without inspecting your antenna, it remains uncertain if a repair is possible.

Having Reception Problems? Is Your TV Antenna To Blame?
Although most people think the TV antenna is responsible for their reception problems, any part of the antenna system might be at fault. System components such as splitters, wall plates, and coaxial cabling are just as important. Because there are numerous potential points of failure, finding the cause of poor reception can be difficult. This is especially true if the person trying to repair the TV antenna system doesn’t have the necessary experience or test equipment.
Our technicians have substantial knowledge regarding TV antennas, obtained over many years. They use this experience as well as diagnostic equipment to pin point the problem and repair it. Where a significant problem is found, our technicians will discuss the recommend repair before proceeding. Our technicians will also advise if the TV antenna is worth repairing. In some cases, it’s more cost effective to replace the TV antenna rather than a short lived fix.

Do You Need To Upgrade Your TV Antenna For Digital?
To get reliable digital reception, your antenna system should adhere to the recommended standards. If your antenna is old, it may need an upgrade. This is likely necessary if you experience pixelation or sound distortions.
There are several parts that may need upgrading. The coaxial cabling and leads should be RG6 quad shielded. All cables should be fitted with f-connectors. All components that connect to the cables should have threaded inserts to accept an f-connector. These upgrades will help to minimise loss of signal and reduce interference.
If you have digital problems, let us help. We can test your antenna system and install the needed upgrades. Give us a call on 9705 1525 to improve your digital reception.
